AN OPEN LETTER TO THE YOUTH LEADERS AND YOUTHS OF EDO SOUTH

Enworo   Daniel     February 1, 2026, 11:48 pm

Sons and daughters of Edo South,

A grave hour stands before us.

To:

Across our lands, fear now walks where freedom once lived. Our farms grow quiet, not from lack of rain, but from the shadow of armed criminals who stalk the fields. Our roads, once alive with trade and movement, have become corridors of dread. Families sleep with one eye open. Mothers tremble when loved ones travel. Fathers wonder whether they will return home at dusk. Kidnappers, bandits, and violent marauders have dared to test the resolve of our people and the peace of our heritage.

This condition is not normal. It is not acceptable. And it must not endure.

History does not remember a people who folded their arms while their communities burned with fear. It remembers those...

who rose—calm, organized, lawful, and determined—to defend the dignity of their land. Edo South has never been a territory of cowards. We are heirs to a civilization of order, courage, and structure. The spirit that built great walls, great culture, and great leadership still runs in our veins.

Now is the time to awaken it.

I call on every Youth Leader across Edo South to close ranks. This is not a season for division, rivalry, or silence. It is a season for unity of purpose. Under the umbrella of Edo Youth Leadership, let us stand shoulder to shoulder and work hand in hand with the Government of Governor Monday Okepboholo and the established security agencies. Security is strongest when communities and lawful authorities move as one.

Let our role be clear, disciplined, and responsible.

We must organize structured community support networks in our towns and villages. We must improve information flow between communities and security agencies. We must help create safer environments through vigilance, coordination, and lawful community watch efforts. We must support emergency response, protect the vulnerable, and ensure that criminals find no hiding place among us.

This is not a call to lawlessness. It is a call to order.

Not a call to chaos, but to coordinated civic strength.

Not a cry of panic, but a declaration of responsibility.

To achieve this, resources are needed. Good intentions alone do not fuel vehicles, provide communication tools, support emergency response, or organize structured training with security authorities. Financial contributions will help to:

Support community safety coordination efforts with security agencies

Provide communication and alert systems for rapid reporting

Supply basic safety gear and identification materials for organized volunteers

Fund first-aid and emergency response support

Assist with logistics for community meetings, awareness programs, and coordination

Offer support channels for affected families in crisis situations

Every contribution becomes a brick in the wall of protection around our communities.

We therefore call on all sons and daughters of Edo South, at home and in the diaspora, to stand in duty and solidarity. The preservation of our land, our people, and our heritage is not the task of government alone—it is the shared responsibility of every citizen who loves this soil.

Let it never be said that when our communities cried out, the youth of Edo South were absent. Let it be said instead that we rose with discipline, unity, and courage and that criminal terror found no resting place in our land.

Edo State Must Be Secured.

Benin Kingdom Must Rise in Peace, Strength, and Dignity.

Oba ghato Kpere Isee.

Signed,

Prince Joseph Ogiehor

Self-Appointed Envoy to Benin Kingdom in Diaspora
